Lee Ellis was born into an American military family on the Fourth of July in Paris, France, grew up in Western Massachusetts, and graduated from Vassar College with a degree in Biopsychology. Deciding to forgo a career in medicine Lee moved to New York City, and began his professional career in singing Light Opera Off-Broadway, and performing  in Soap Operas and Films.  Lee is a member of the Screen Actors Guild/SAG-AFTRA, Actor’s Equity, The Dramatists Guild and is a writer/publisher with ASCAP. Lee has also played in Piano Bars and Cabarets from Bermuda to Mykonos, including two years as the performer on the legendary Hutton/ Post Four-Masted Sailing Yacht , "Sea Cloud" in the Mediterranean and Caribbean seas. 


In 1987 Lee co-wrote a highly successful cabaret show in New York called  NO STRINGS ATTACHED.  A little known piece of Broadway history is that while volunteering for Broadway producer and Tony Award winner John Glines on the STAMP OUT AIDS project, Lee and his songwriting partner Tug Wilson produced the very first benefits for   BROADWAY CARES. With the help of SOA Board member Roger MacFarlane and the Young Producers Group, Broadway Cares partnered with Equity Fights AIDS to become the largest fund raising organization in the U.S.A. for AIDS services, and won a special humanitarian Tony Award.


In Nashville, Lee co founded The World Peace Choir -  sang with Dolly Parton in Dollywood, performed his original music three times on the Grand Ole Opry’s Gospel Hour, was the Minister of Music for Unity Center for Positive Living, and produced his first album of inspirational songs, MICHAEL, which includes the song “Follow Your Heart”, which was nominated for a GLAMA Award for Best Contemporary Spiritual Song of 2000.  Lee also has an acoustic album called INTO MY HEART, both of which are available on iTunes and Bandcamp.


Lee has also composed and recorded several CD’s of original Hymns with His Holiness  Gayuna Cealo, revered as a Living Buddha in Asia, as well as composing and co-producing Cealo's Global Harmony Anthem "You, Love All.” Proceeds from these works help to fund The Foundation for Global Harmony, which directly aids orphaned street children in Cambodia, Myanmar and Sri Lanka, and are available here. As a soloist with The Global Harmony Band, Lee has travelled throughout the USA, Japan and Cambodia raising awareness and resources for the children.
